ANDEAN REGION EXPEDITION

In Colombia the Andes splits into three big cordilleras: the Western, Central and Eastern Andes. These are separated by deep interandean valleys.  The huge altitudinal range of these mountains provides different ecosystem that give shelter to more than 1000 bird species, so the areas to explore are diverse.


EASTERN ANDES EXPEDITION


Great for: Birding and Photography.

Duration: Between 7 - 10 days

Group size: Max. 8 birders / photographers

Best time to go: All year. Dry seasson: Late November - May. Rainy seasson: May - November

Price: Around U$240 per person per day, according to group size, and currency.

Includes ground transport, lodging, all meals, hydratation, entrance fees, guiding services, bird list.



PLACES TO VISIT


BOGOTA AND SURROUNDINGS: Bogota has some good places to go birding like the wetlands where possible some interesting and endemic species. Around Bogotá best places are Chicaque Reserve, Chingaza National Park.


IGUAQUE SANCTUARY and ROGITAMA RESERVE: Located at the north of Bogotá, in Boyacá department, these two places offer great chances to see interesting species including the endemic Black Inca.


SAN FRANCISCO AND JARDIN ENCANTADO: In this small town there's a house with a lot of hummingbird feeders, where possible to see more than 10 species, including the endemic Indigo-capped hummingbird. 


TURMEQUE TOWN: Another small farm with amazing hummingbird feeders
